The original 1960 lineup of the American girl group The Crystals consisted of five teenagers from Brooklyn, New York:

Organized by manager and musician Benny Wells, the quintet was signed to Phil Spector’s Philles Records. Shortly after their debut, Myrna Giraud left the group in 1962 and was replaced by Dolores “La La” Brooks, who went on to sing lead on famous hits like “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “Then He Kissed Me”.
