The Kinks are an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1963 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies, Mick Avory and Pete Quaife.. During their existence they have played different styles of rock (‘n’ roll) music, but their storyteller songwriter Ray Davies has always been the focal point of the band. Pete Quaife left The Kinks during the Arthur or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire rehearsals. In a June 2018 interview, Ray Davies stated that he, along with brother Dave, and drummer Avory, had reformed The Kinks for a new studio album and to potentially perform live. The Kinks was inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 (as Performer).
Waterloo Sunset was first released in 1967 and this is the 55th anniversary release of this classic single. This mono and remastered re-release for Record Store Day 2022 (June Drop) is a 6-track, yellow vinyl 12” single (although it’s more of an EP or mini album with that number of tracks). Artwork is from the original French 1967 release. This song was ranked number 14 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
